BJP demands restoration of power supply
ITANAGAR, Jul 18: The Bharatiya Janata Party Arunachal Pradesh has reacted angrily to the Power Department’s inability to provide power supply to many areas in Itanagar since the last five days.
It said that State govt has failed to provide basic amenities to the people of the Capital Complex for decades now.
Terming Itanagar a dark state Capital, the party said that common people, especially students are facing a lot of problem due to power cut.
It further accused the State govt as well as the Department of the Hydro Power for miserably failing to generate alternate power source for the state’s twin Capital.
It also called immediate restoration of 132 KV lines at the earliest so that the dwellers of Itanagar don’t suffer for want of power without any fault of theirs.
Chambang facing acute shortage of ration items
ITANAGAR, Jul 18: Chambang ZPM Charu Nera has informed that there is acute shortage of ration items in Chambang for the last three months.
It alleged that ration items, especially Rice, are being withdrawn from FCI Karsingsa but it doesn’t reach the intended people.
The reason for non supply of the PDS items cannot be the disrupted road connectivity to Chambang because the provision of PDS item in Chambang area is head load system, it said and sought intervention of DC Kra Dadi to unearth the reason behind the non distribution of PDS items. It also claimed that the PDS items are hardly distributed and only a meager amount is distributed whenever given out.
Executive meeting of NSUI held at Guwahati
ITANAGAR, Jul 18: The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) organised a two days executive meeting at a city hotel in Guwahati on July 14 and 15 which was participated by NSUI executive members from all the states.

NERCORMP review meeting with partner NGOs
CHANGLANG, Jul 18: The North Eastern Region Community Resource Management Society (NERCORMP) Changlang convened a daylong review meeting of the partner NGOs at Changlang yesterday. The meeting was attended by 30 NGO representatives of the partner NGOs.
The partner NGOs shared about the challenges and opportunities they have faced during the implementation of the NERCORMP project in the district.
Upon the problems and other challenges faced by the partner NGOs in the field during implementation, the Project Manager assured to conduct regular consultation with them through review meetings for better coordination and effective implementation of the project in the district through the NaRMGs and SHGs. The Development Support Team has requested the partner NGOs to effectively conduct survey for the identification of the new project villages and households for the 2nd phase of expansion and to constantly monitor the projects implemented by the NaRMGs so as to ensure that the benefits of the project reaches the poorest of the poor in the district by following the project implementation guidelines of NERCORMP.

DMP secretary Samiran Kumar Singh dies
ITANAGAR, Jul 18: The students, staff fraternity of Donyi Polo Mission and its sister concern, namely, Tribal Development Foundation and the members of Donyi Polo Vidya Bhavan Welfare Committee Itanagar expressed deep shock over the demise of its secretary, Samiran Kumar Singh who breathed his last today at 5.45 am in R K Mission Hospital here following a brief illness. He was 63 years old and was survived by his wife and two daughters.
Late Singh had been extending his valuable services in Donyi Polo Mission and its sister concern since 2010 honestly and diligently.

order on July 13 last, prohibited hunting, fishing and timber operation in Upper
Ramle Banggo area including Koyu and Korang circles under Nari Sub-
Rampant fishing, hunting and large scale felling timber yielding trees was going on in the area, which was posing serious threat to the ecosystem.
The illegal traders and poachers, defying all legal hurdles have been destroying the area. Despite repeated prohibitory orders issued by the local bodies, some unscrupulous people continued the illegal activities in the hilly jungles and water bodies.

ITANAGAR, Jul 18: Marto Kamdak, one of the most well known singers of the state has passed away this afternoon at a Guwahati hospital after a brief illness. He had suffered a brain haemorrhage following a massive stroke few days ago and was shifted to Guwahati for further treatment, according to family sources.
Kamdak was 49 and leaves behind his wife and three children.

ugely popular Kamdak sang in numerous languages of the state.
Credited with belting out numerous hits in Adi, Nyishi, Galo, Monpa, Mishmi, Miji, Aka, Tagin, Apatani, Nocte, Wancho, Sajolang and even Assamese among other languages, he was born to Jarmar Kamdak and Mokir Kamdak, in Kamdak village, West Siang District.
A graduate from J N College, Pasighat, his Adi number “Sai sai sina” remains one of the most lasting popular songs in the state.
He also had the distinction of being one of the first B High rated singer in tribal languages from the All India Radio in 1996.

Many have taken to social media to express their shock at the sudden death of Kamdak. Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has expressed shock and grief over the sudden demise of one of the most popular singers of all times, Marto Kamdak.
“I can’t believe that the melodious voice, which has been a constant inspiration for years, has been silenced forever”, Tuki said in a message here this evening.
The Chief Minister remembered late Kamdak as a versatile singer who brought a dynamic shift in the musical history of Arunachal Pradesh with his contemporary songs that caught the imagination of the youths of his time. “Though he may not be amongst us physically but he will live with us forever through his more than 200 songs. Arunachal Pradesh has lost a truly deserving son in his death”, the Chief Minister said.

ITANAGAR, Jul 18: First Consultative and Review Meeting on Infant Mortality Rate reduction Programme in Arunachal Pradesh was conducted at State Training Centre, NHM Office, Naharlagun today. The meeting was organised by Directorate of Family Welfare.
Indra Mallo, Secretary (Health & FW) directed the senior officers in the directorates to make a well plan strategic approach and coordination including branches like RNTCP, NVBDCP, APSACS to reduce the Infant Mortality Rate in the state.
Further she emphasized on rational utilization of trained specialist doctors, nurses and that nurses should be involved at any health action plan for successful implementation of any programme.
P.N. Thungon, MD (NHM) emphasised on improvement on IMR by proper monitoring and supervision and coordination with all stake holders. He said review meeting should be conducted monthly. We need to cooperate and work as a team to achieve the objectives, he added. While giving the overview of IMR status and detail action planed prepared for reduction in the state, Dr. T. AAPSU calls for amendment in semester system of RGU
ITANAGAR, Jul 18: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has called for amendment in semester system of Rajiv Gandhi University. General Secretary Biru Nasi and Convener Tadar Kakum met the Vice Chancellor (VC) and apprised him of the dilemma that college students in the state are facing.
Informing that the system doesn’t allow students to be promoted in the next semester and at the same time they are being denied admission as the colleges have limited seats which are being filled by the fresh students, it opined that the university needs to adopt student friendly policy.
AAPSU pointed out that while CBSE declares students securing 33 percent as pass but the policy adopted by the university disallows students below 40 percent to get admission in the colleges. Meanwhile, the VC has stated that the admission procedure is not controlled by the university and it is upto the respective college principals and the director higher and technical education to take admission of the failed students, informed AAPSU.
However, he assured that the representation would be put up for discussion in the next academic council meeting which is to be scheduled in the month of September this year, AAPSU further added.
State Govt. misguiding people: BJP

The Governor suggested for hanging bridge near the temple so as to add to its aesthetic value but at the same time said that it should be constructed by the pilgrims or donors. Awareness campaign on disaster preparedness

SEPPA, Jul 18: An awareness generation programme on disaster preparedness with the motto “Be aware, Be prepared” was conducted by Disaster Management Cell, Seppa involving Women Welfare Organization (WWO) at five different colonies within Seppa township which ended at JNV, New Seppa on July 14 last.
Attending in the series of programme, DC Sandeep Kumar Singh said that the compact settlement at Seppa town may be a deterrent for the administration to carry out Search & Rescue operations in case of any type of disaster for which he suggested for extension of the town. He added that if new colonies are established in future, they should come up with all the basic amenities like colony roads, drains/clinic, and school. He suggested the people to organise community based programmes’ on self help basis.
While sharing the experiences ADC Pooja Jain urged the people not to panic in case of occurrence of any type of Disaster and remain alert and prepared.
